This photograph of Douglass School was taken looking northeast at the intersection of 27th Street and Jarboe Street (also known as W. Prospect Pl. at this time). Douglass School was built in 1890 as a public school for African Americans.

Postcard of the 27th Street bridge over Vine Street in Troost Park (now Troost Lake Park), Kansas City, Missouri. This vantage point faces west just east of Highland Avenue and to the south of the bridge, and shows the Christian Church Hospital in the distance. The back of the postcard includes a brief caption about the bridge and a short letter from Nellie Shadbolt to her husband G.A. Shadbolt.

Photograph with an exterior street level view of Lowell Public School located at the southeast corner of 27th Street and Madison Avenue. The school was named after James Russell Lowell. This vantage point faces east-southeast from near the southwest corner of 27th and Madison.
