Otis presided over the event, with guests including Senator Bennett "Champ" Clark, Senator Harry Truman, and Governor Lloyd C. Stark. Music was provided by the Letter Carriers' Band, and the event was broadcast by WDAF Radio. The program also includes photographs and histories of earlier Kansas City federal buildings, and a list of the agencies that will be housed in the new facility.
