FFA Boy Preparing Paint

Description: 

Photograph of Dan Porterfield, a Future Farmers of America participant, preparing paint outside Shawnee Mission Rural High School in 1940 or 1941. Standing over a wooden crate or similar work surface, Porterfield mixes white paint with a stirrer in a large bucket. He is surrounded by ingredients for the paint: a bucket labeled "Soft Paste White Lead Strictly Pure" and a can of linseed oil. Stacks of Spanish-style roof tilesstand in stacks again the school building in the background of the image alongside other equipment. The photograph is part of the 1940-1941 Future Farmers of America "Community Service" scrapbook.
