Pendergast, smiling broadly as they anticipated victory in the Kansas City elections. The picture was taken in the Pendergast wigwam, known as Jackson Democratic Club. Their confidence was well-founded for the Pendergast Machine swept the election with a 43,000 majority that elected the Pendergast candidate, Bryce B. Smith, as Mayor.
